2011 Competition

Over the weekend of May 21st and 22nd Thornbury Town FC held its 20th annual youth six-a-side tournament. With the weather generally holding, and the temperature keeping to perfect levels, over 90 teams with about 540 players contested trophies from under 9 to under 13 boys and under 10 girls. All the matches were played in good spirit with eagerly contested finals many only being resolved by penalty shoot outs which just added to the excitement. There was also a football for festival for under 8s in which the teams played against each other to celebrate the players early introduction to football and each player received a certificate. As with previous years the tournament was supported by parents, ex-players, club officials and first team players and provided not just a winners competition but also the ever popular and unique consolation trophy.
